I watched Choke. It starts out mediocre. At first, characters felt uninspired and dialogue was boring, but it got a lot better as the story moved on. The final scene is different, but I still got the message. They have the ending from the book in the deleted scenes, and I like that ending better. The sex addiction, inner goodness of man, crazy edlerly people, and self inflicted choking is portrayed well throughout the movie. One sex scene was hilarious.
I think the movie stands alright by itself for people who have never read it, but it helps to read the book first. The movie did its best to interpret all of the messages in the book, but the book is a lot better.
Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Choke and best known for writing Fight Club, is a great author and I recommend his books and this movie to people who like psychological drama and subtle comedy. Choke is far from being the next Fight Club, but it is good and entertaining if you can get past the first 30 minutes of the movie.
